Introduction

I earned my medical degree in 1987 from the University of Debrecen Medical School. I began my career at the Department of Urology of the Kenézy Gyula Hospital, and after my board certification in urology, spent ten years at the 1st Department of Surgery, University of Debrecen, where I also passed my board examination in general surgery with excellent results. In 2002 I returned to urology for good, and I have worked at the Department of Urology, University of Debrecen ever since — currently as associate professor and head of department. Over the course of my career it has become clear to me that urology is a field where precise surgical technique, responsible decision-making, and the utmost empathy for patients are inseparable.

Continuous professional development and evidence-based medicine have always been the cornerstone of my profession. I obtained my PhD in 2003, became a board-certified clinical oncologist in 2013, and successfully completed my habilitation in 2021. My professional interest centres on uro-oncology, particularly the complex treatment of kidney and prostate cancer, as well as modern, minimally invasive urological surgical techniques. I regularly attend and give professional talks at domestic and international congresses, and I also play an active role in teaching future doctors and specialist trainees. I place great importance on translating the up-to-date knowledge I gain through academic and research work directly into everyday patient care.

With decades of clinical and surgical experience behind me, I know that urological and oncological concerns are often accompanied by a great deal of anxiety and uncertainty. The main goal of my private practice is to create a discreet, calm and trusting atmosphere in which my patients can talk about their concerns without pressure. Alongside high-quality professional care, I believe it is essential to allow enough time to answer questions, explain the exact diagnosis clearly, and work out a personalised, effective treatment plan. I am convinced that, alongside medical expertise, the key to successful treatment is understanding, patience and genuine attention.
